Should I self-study US Gov and Comp Pol?

I am currently in the class, though it does not prepare for the AP. As I looked on several college websites, Gov and Comp Pol aren’t too popular on their AP lists. Is it worth it to take these APs then (I am a junior)? The only possible benefits I see would be getting some type of credit/showing colleges that I can self-study material by receiving a high score…and if these exams arent viewed very highly, I won’t achieve either.

Is it worth the time? I could be studying for SATIIs instead…

Bump…

Go for it man, but I would self study for one exam instead of two (more time for SAT II). Don’t know about you, but I have found that AP exams have gotten much easier compared to exams from past years. I didn’t take the course for either exam and got 4’s on both of them.

Princeton Review makes a great prep book for US Gov and Politics. On the exam I took, about half the questions were drawn from Institutions of Government (political parties, congress, president, judiciary, bureaucracy, etc) MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THAT LIKE THE BACK OF YOUR HAND. Tons of multiple choice questions came from that section and 2 out of the 3 free response questions asked about knowledge from that area. Good Luck.

I would definitely go for it. You don’t really need a teacher to help you pass the exam. Just read through the textbook extensively and you’ll be fine.
