Should I self-study?

I'm almost complete with my high school career, and I still haven't taken all the AP Sciences - namely, AP Physics and AP Chem.

If I were a liberal arts major, I probably wouldn't care much for Physics or Chem, but I plan to enter the medical field ... so ... should I take AP Physics and Chem, even if I have to self-study them?

I know that if I don't take Physics or Chem and I'd likely be stuck in a freshman physics class at my university with 500 of my best friends ...

But then, I have to invest a TON of time to self-study - I'm already loaded with APs.

What should I do?

I wouldn't honestly. Both those are extremely difficult to self study for. I would focus on your other classes. Unless you have all the SAT II's done that you want to take, I would focus on studying and getting 800's on those subjects. Maybe self study AP Psychology or something easier. Next month I am going to just read through a couple of review books for AP Psych and that should be enough to get a 5. But I took AP Chem and I am in Physics B right now and they're not easy classes. Also, don't forget to post on your progress thread your SAT results; I will too! Just my two cents.

Yeessssir :D!

Thanks for sharing your experiences :D. I think I'll focus on my SAT IIs for now ... 800 in APUSH here I come :D. Perhaps I'll tackle AP Physics over the summer ... it shouldn't be that hard, is it? I really commend you for having taken both AP Chem and Physics though :)! I heard Chem was hard :o, and the fact that the SAT II Chem exam is really different from the AP Chem exam doesn't help - you have those weird two statement questions lol.

Depends how good you are at physics but I am sure you could handle it. It's just not one of these subjects that comes intuitively to many people but you never know!

I am also shooting for an 800 in US. I'm thinking I'll just re-read the pageant and read AMSCO and direct hits a few times. Hopefully Krieger's book comes out soon too (have you heard any news on that?). How are you going to study?

Edit: I guess extremely difficult is a bit of a hyperbole. Oh and f those two statement questions. Those are probably the sole reason why I got a 790 and not an 800.

790 :o??!?! That's already phenomenal!

I think he's made a new APUSH Facebook page :o. I'm not sure because I haven't logged on to FB for some time - non-procrastination ftw :D.

AP chemistry is the last class I would self-study for. It required most class and teacher interaction for me.

There is no point since AP credits for med school requirement classes don't count...so you would be wasting your time.
