Should I send a second letter of intent?

About a month ago I was waitlisted for the only school I applied to/want to transfer to.

They asked me to send an update of anything that has happened since submitting my application (extracurriculars, awards, grades, etc.)

A few weeks ago I sent an update with new summer internship info, volunteering I’ve done since quarantine, jobs, and my current grades. In that letter I also reiterated my interest in the school.

Since sending that update, I have finished the semester and earned all As, whereas in the first update I sent the school, I had an A-. Is it worth sending another update to show my improvement in this one class and to show that I finished the year strongly?

I also got accepted into an honors society at my current school. Would it also be worth it to send this?

I do not want to seem obsessive by sending a second letter of intent/update, but I would hope that if I have any chance of being admitted off the waitlist, maybe this could give me a boost. On top of this, I would have liked to have included my final grades and acceptance into an honors society in my first letter, but my current school gets out super late and I didn’t want to hold off on sending the letter just for these two things. Would it be appropriate to send another short letter or would it hurt me in that it would seem annoying/over the top?

It can’t hurt. Go for it.

Too late to change things now, but the usual plan for applying is to have a range from reaches down to a safety.

What school have you applied to xfer to? Or if you don’t want to say, look at their common data set info to see how many kids they put on a waitlist and how many they accepted. While this info is for frosh, not xfers, it will give you an idea of how they use their waitlist. The sad truth is that at many colleges they put thousands of kids on the waitlist and take only a few dozen.

I am currently at another 4 year institution, which was also my safety school when I applied in HS. So should I not get into this one, I am still able to move forward with my degree at a school that is a mediocre fit for me until I can transfer. I’m also a freshman going on sophomore, so I have two more tries to transfer should I not get in now.

I’ve looked at the common data set religiously for their waitlists over the years and unfortunately it is typically low— but that is as expected for a smaller school. I’m remaining optimistic though because I still have two more tries, it would just be nice to have the extra semester there if I could get in now. If not, I will simply work harder and try again.

Thank you for your response, any other advice is appreciated!
