Should I send in a 3rd teacher recommendation?

My suspicion that UChicago relies more on subjective markers, such as essays and recommendations, over things like SAT scores and extracurriculars were reinforced by this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/1089127-chances-mean-nothing.html

So I was wondering if I should send in a 3rd recommendation for RD. I feel like one of my senior year teachers has been able to see more of whatever talents I might have and could write a good rec, but I don’t want to make her do it if it won’t matter. Should I ask the Chicago or should I just not bother getting another one, especially since the deadline has already passed long ago?

Don’t do it, it is way too far past the deadline for it to be likely that it will make it in to your file. Plenty of people are accepted based on their two recs, and because of the holistic admissions process (that looks at all aspects of your application as useful) it is unlikely that a third will tip your application in to the “Accept” pile if you otherwise would not be.
