Should I send in additional information this late?

Hello,

I’m an OOS student who applied to Berkeley. I was involved in a state competition for FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and won 1st place in the state for my event.

It was very competitive, there were about 35 groups competing with a total of around 75 students and I managed to place first. It was a presentation and I scored a perfect 200/200.

My GPA and SAT score are lower than the average for cal, however, my extracurriculars are above average. My expectations are low, but It may be worth a shot. I was requested to send letters of rec (if that means anything).

So my question is, should i send the admissions office an email explaining my achievement? I know that Berkeley is very holistic in their admissions process, so maybe it could help. If not, I don’t think it would hurt. What do you think? Any feedback would be helpful.

Thanks!

Absolutely I’d send it in. What are they going to say, “well, we already had this guy on the admit list but now that he’s sent us this annoying letter, we’re rejecting him instead.” Worst-case scenario – it has no impact whatsoever. Best case – you were on the fence & this knocks you into the positive column.
