Should I send in my letter from the governor?

<p>So, I’m from Maryland and this year I competed in their MD Distinguished Scholar competition, for talent in the arts:dance.</p>

<p>I wasn’t named a finalist (no scholarship, boo) but I was given an honorable mention for my dance performance. First I got a letter from the Maryland Higher Education Committee informing me of this, then I got a letter from the governor of Maryland congratulating me. (They were sent seperately.)</p>

<p>My mom wants me to send in my letter from the gov, because she thinks it’s a big deal. I’m not so sure that it is, espescially since I wasn’t actually offered a scholarship. I was going to just kind of emphasize the award on the common app, but then I forgot and only mentioned it in passing.</p>

<p>Should I send in the letter now, because I messed up on my app? Or is it as small an award as I originally assumed it was and something my ED school (Northwestern) won’t care about?</p>

<p>I’m applying for theater production, by the way, though I intend to double major/minor in dance eventually.</p>

<p>Sure, send in the letter. Anything that makes you look good you should include. The award sounds like a big deal to me.</p>

<p>Sounds big (unless its one of those letters that everyone who participates receives) so I would probably send it in. I’ve read that if you receive an award after you submit your application (doesn’t really apply to you but kind of), they like to see an update on what you won.</p>
