Received a 750 in Physics. It seems high but it is only 70th percentile. Should I send it? Maths L2 was good(800). Am international.
Majors: Engineering/Physics/Astronomy/Astrophysics/Geology/Geophysics
Tentative list of schools:
Ivies except Cornell
Duke Northwestern WUSTL etc.( Ivy calibre basically)
Tufts Brandeis
Amherst Williams Swarthmore Haverford Bates
Not applying to MIT Caltech Mudd GaTech etc.
No publics.
These schools are all so different it is hard to understand how you chose them other than a ranking list.
I did pick them off a ranking list. It’s just tentative.I know that by this time I should have a good solid list…sigh. I meant to ask which “level” of schools should it be sent to. That’s why I broke the list down into 4 parts. @roycroftmom
Well, I agree that your college list is all over the place, but since that’s not what you asked, I’ll move on and just address the question.
The 750 is more than fine. If any of your target colleges rejects you, IMO it will not be the result of a 750.
It is important to understand that for several subjects, the percentiles are depressed because so few colleges request Subject Tests, that the ones that do are the ultra selective ones. As a result, it is the high achieving kids taking the tests. No AO is sitting on the floor cross-referencing scores with percentiles.
If you think the physics percentiles are crazy, look at Chinese and Korean, which is in addition to the explanation above, is skewed by heritage speakers.
