Should I shoot for the stars?

I’ve got good stats and ECs, but really fell in love with Baylor on a visit there and am having a hard time of getting motivated to apply to other more prestigious schools. I want to go to medical school, and think baylor can get me there, while giving me a fullride scholarship. However, I would like to here some reasons for why I should try to get into an ivy or other really good school and how this would help me out with my goals of getting a good education and becoming a doctor.

Sure, why not? The only thing you’ve got to lose is your application fee.

Baylor is known for its sciences.

Also, if you are Ivy caliber, you will probably do well at Baylor.

You don’t necessarily have to go to an Ivy School to get into med school.

Many people have to go to their state’s flagship university for financial reasons.

If medical schools know you got a scholarship to Baylor, and you do well at Baylor, you will get into medical school.

I would say to apply to a couple Ivies, so you will have that option on the table, when decision day actually comes.

I have clients whose daughter got into medical school from Florida International University, which is a 3rd or 4th tier school. I know another guy who got into medical school from SUNY Oneonta.

You might contact Baylor and find out more about how their science graduates do.

And of course, hopefully some Baylor people will respond to your CC post.

I can tell you that a friend of mine graduated Duke, passed on Columbia, but seriously considered Baylor.

Vinnyg3.

Perhaps you can tell everyone what you liked about Baylor.

Why bother? You’re found what seems to be the right school for you, and your reasoning is sound.

The campus was really nice. It just seems like such a unique place, how it is relatively small but has big 12 sports and i really would enjoy the christian fellowship. I met a lot of really cool people there, and I think I could get a great education for free and be able to accomplish my goals.
