I graduated high school this year in May 2017, and am currently taking a gap semester to work and save money for college; I planned to start college in Spring 2018, but I am now realizing I will probably have to take classes every summer if I want to graduate in May 2021. I thought of the idea of just waiting until next fall to start my freshman year of college and do a cool gap program in the Spring. I feel like my college experience will be more normal if I start in the fall but on the other hand I will be 19 by then and turn 20 in late november of 2018. Should I just start this Spring or wait until next fall? opinions are highly appreciated thank you.
Just my opinion, but I think that it makes sense to start in the fall. It doesn’t matter whether you start at 18 or at 19 except for one difference: There is a good chance that you will be a stronger student after having taken a year off. For example you will have seen a bit more of life and you will have had some time to think about what you want to study.
I think it will be easier to make friends if you start as a freshman…you will get to do the orientations with everyone else.
