Should I start taking self-paced online Japanese?

Hello! My school offers online Chinese through a certain website, and this school year the same website has started offering Japanese as well. You can still sign up on the website, so I think it’s not too late for me. I’ve been taking Japanese lessons for about one and a half years outside of school from a private teacher, and I think taking an actual class would improve my Japanese and motivate me to study. I’d have to email my school or something to find out if they would accept credit and everything, since by the time Japanese started being offered, the school year had already started.

Would I still need to take 4 years of a language? I wasn’t sure if I could do a combination and be fine, like 3 of French and 2 of Japanese, since the online Japanese only goes up to Japanese 2. Would it be best for me to take 4 years of French and 2 of Japanese?

Thanks!

I’m not an expert on the whole language part of admissions so take this as you may. Four years of french and 2 of Japanese won’t really make a difference vs just four years of French. Taking a level 1 & 2 class is just not enough to become adept at a language.

@QuadMaster‌ I was mainly wondering if it would be okay if I took a combination where neither language was 4 years, but thanks! And sorry if I implied that I thought that taking French 1-4 and Japanese 1-2 would be better than French 1-4, I didn’t mean that :)

I think that would be so cool! I’d be watching Anime SO much in regular Japanese. xD I think that it would be fine as long of one of the languages go up to at least level 3.
