So I’ve applied to UGA and GA Tech Early Action and I’m also applying to Emory, Mercer, Duke, and Stanford. I’m applying to Emory, Duke, and Stanford Regular Decision, but I will get my UGA results before the application is due for those colleges. I’m just wondering if I already sent my transcripts and teacher recommendations to those colleges (Emory, Duke, Stanford, Mercer), do I still have to submit my application? Because if I get in to UGA or Tech, I’m committed to attending either of the two. So if I do get accepted to UGA or Tech, I don’t think it’s necessary for me to attend the other colleges on my list. So does that mean I still have to finish the application since they already have my transcripts and teacher recs? I just don’t feel like paying the application fee for those colleges. If I don’t have to finish those applications, do I just remove them from my college lists on Common App? Thanks so much!
You can hold off on the RD schools until you get your decision from UGA and GA Tech as long as you will receive your decision before the RD deadline. So if you will hear back from EA schools by December 15 (on or around) and the decision in unfavorable, then you will still have time to send in RD applications which usually have a deadline of January 1st.
Lots of applicants do what you are doing to save money. If they already have your LORs and transcripts and you don’t want to or need to finish the application, that’s OK. But if you do decide to send in RD applications, then you need to make sure that the school report is also sent by your GC.
Think about it this way: all your stuff is floating around in the cloud/server at Stanford, for example. Once test scores, LOR’s etc start coming in, it all gets matched up with your identifying info and gets put into a file. If you don’t finish your app, then your file is incomplete and it won’t be reviewed.
You can either remove them or not from the common app dashboard.
