So I recently took 3 subject tests (physics, lit, and us history) and found that my humanities scores were both around 730-740. Although they certainly aren’t bad scores, they’re not really up to par with the rest of my test scores. I already have 790-800 in 3 science tests plus math 2, so the only reason I would consider sending in my humanities scores would be to show more breadth across subjects. My question is, if I’m looking at highly competitive schools like the ivies, will submitting the relatively lower humanities scores look worse than if I only submitted my math/science scores? In other words, is it better to show consistently high scores in one focus or try to seem more well rounded?
Scores are not low. In any event, you must send them to colleges that require you to provide all subject test scores. As to the others that require subject tests but do not require you to send all scores, you are fine sending them (or not if you are really worried about it), including because the humanities scores are not low and because those colleges use your highest two subject test scores in determining admission.
IMO, Subject Test scores are such a small portion of the packet. I believe that the people at the school assembling the packets are just looking to check off the box. 2 SAT Subject Tests? Check. Next.
Regardless, the AO’s will not be looking at Subject test scores to demonstrate well-roundedness. If they did, they would require all applicants to submit a humanities and a STEM. Additionally, many schools are looking for a well-rounded class, not a well rounded applicant.
Whether you want to send 2 scores or 6 is up to you, but more certainly will not boost your application.
