Should I Submit a 740 Subject Test?

For the colleges that only require two subject tests, I am submitting my Math II and Physics scores (800s), but should I submit my third test? I am planning on applying as an engineering major to Ivy League and other top schools, and I’m afraid that this will hurt my application.

The third score is a 740 in World History.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A 740 is not a bad score and won’t improve or detract from your application, it’s just that you have no need to send it IMO.

Yeah, that’s why I’m not sure if I should send it or not…

Do you feel there’s anything you can gain from the 740? It’s probably the same as getting a 5 on the AP World exam, so maybe if you didn’t do well on that class/exam…

I got a 5 in AP World… Man first world problems haha

I don’t think it would help you very much specially if you are going into engineering, you already have great subject tests in the engineering subjects. Good luck

That’s not a bad score at all. How about sending it in the Score Report, but leave it out of the common app? That way the admission office will have it on record, but you’re letting them know that the emphasis is on your reported math and physics scores.

Edit: cross-posted. Since you already have a 5 on the AP, leaving out the SATII score is perfectly fine.

I do not think it is necessary to submit a third subject test since you already fulfilled the requirement and you submitted two in your area of pursuit.

^ Thanks, but it doesn’t cost me any more to submit my World History test. On one hand, I think it would be good to get another score in, but I’m afraid that it could hurt me.

My answer wasn’t “cost based”. I was agreeing with your rationale.

I understand, but you said it “wasn’t necessary,” which I took to mean I could go either way.

xrCalico23: You brought up a good point. I reported the 740 on the common app so I think I will report the world history score, thanks guys :).

But this raises another question. I reported my ACT (substantially lower than my SAT I) on the common app. Do I need to send my ACT to all of my schools now? I would prefer them not to see it, so I think I will make another version of my common app for my RD schools.

Why report ACT if your SATI is much higher? Making another version of the common app sounds like a great idea.
