Should I submit a transfer application to MIT?

Hello!

I’ve been considering sending in a transfer application to Harvard or MIT. I’m from the UK and I’m studying at a UK university that sits in the QS world top 10 as a first year undergraduate student. I don’t have any GPA yet because I’m still in my first term.

I really want to work in the US at a top tech company after I graduate. I didn’t apply to MIT originally because I didn’t believe that it could be an option to me.

I did perform really well in high school, achieving 5 A-Levels and won an award from my school as a result. One of these was self-taught and I was the only person at my school to take 5 A-Levels. I was always active with my interest in computers. When I was 12 and 13, I started a web hosting business with international friends and I ran a social network for my town. However, I’ve heard a lot about MIT transfer students winning awards internationally and having other outstanding achievements. For this reason, I do not think it is reasonable for me to apply but would like to hear what other people think first.

Go for it. At most you’ll pay like 80 USD for the MIT transfer application and spend a few hours writing some essays. You never know. I believe in you.
