Should I submit ACT or SAT???

I didn't even know I could already check my ACT Scores so that was a surprise, and a pretty good one at that. Now I am facing a slight dilemma, which score to submit when I apply, or just send both?

ACT: Unofficial Composite 34 (34 English[writing score not available yet], 35 Math, 33 Reading, and 33 Science

SAT: 2270 (770 CR, 700 M, 800 W)

As for the ACT even if my writing brings my english down 1 point i would still have a 34.

A 34 ACT correlates to a 2270 or a 2290 SAT or something so just send the SAT. Send the ACT only if you don't have your subject tests done. Plus, you can take the SAT once more, after you practice math some more, and have a terrific superscore.

Send both. For competitive schools, it might make a difference that you scored high on both exams.

Where are you applying?

Are you applying to any financial safety schools? with those stats, you could get some big merit scholarships to some safety schools.

ACT will report your composite as what it is now w/o writing. When writing is scored you will get a separate writing score (1-12) and then a combined English/writing score (1-36) but it is up to college whether they rely on that one to determine composite.

Your ACT appears to be somewhat better but there will be no harm in sending both. You find conversion tables on line including those generated by SAT/ACT but you cannot assume any particular college follows those tables as many have their own conversions and thus when scores are fairly close sending both allows them to chose which they believe is higher.

thanks for the good advice, I am definitely retaking the SAT to increase my Math Score, but now that I have this ACT score I am not sure if I should retake it as well.

My top 5 choices in order are Wharton,Yale,Cornell,UVa (In State), and Duke. I think for all of these colleges sending both would be best.

There is really no negative to sending both correct?

how about a 2160(740M/740CR/680W) vs. a 34 (34E,36M,30R,36S)

OP, just send Both.

I have a sense that Colleges like SAT better even though they wont admit it. The SAT was indeed created by the Ivies and most of the older Adcoms are probably more familiar with SATs than ACTs. But send both to be safe.

sic_infit... definitely send your ACT.
