Should I submit both SAT and ACT?

These are my scores:
SAT-1870(one-sitting) 1900(superscored)
ACT-31 (one-sitting)

Will it hurt to submit both? I’m mostly applying to tier1-tier2 publics (SUNY Albany, Bing, Rutgers, Ohio State, Florida State, Penn State) and my 31 qualifies for merit-aid at many of the schools. Do they admit/give merit-aid as long as one of the scores is up to par? Thanks!

They will use the higher score by why bother to pay to send the lower one? Also, can you afford all those OOS schools?

What’s your home state? GPA?

Looks to me like the ACT is higher. Why not just submit that?

I would only submit the ACT.

@“Erin’s Dad” Some of these schools give a lot of OOS merit-aid. FSU gives a full-tuition waiver and they told me their requirement for that was a 30 and I have a 31. However, the SAT requirement is much higher than my SAT, but you don’t need both.

@BatesParents2019 NY and 95.7 (As of beginning of junior year) but it should go up after my final junior year grades are in (I did really good this year, especially in my weighted classes).

@jdschooled5 Why are you applying to all publics, many OOS? Do you need merit or need based aid to make this all work?

@BatesParents2019 I have a specific major I want. Only two schools in NY offer it, one being an ivy and the other a state school. Since it is an uncommon major, it is mostly only large, OOS publics that have it. I’m also only applying to ones that give merit-aid (Ohio State, Florida State) as I won’t qualify for need-based aid.

Unless you have to submit the SAT, just submit the ACT. A 31 is the 97th percentile whereas a 1900 is the 87th for a male and 90th for a female.

@BatesParents2019 that is what I want to do. Although, my mom seems to think that I should submit both. But a 31 ACT is a 2000+ SAT. I’ll see as the summer goes on. Thank you!

It’s just a matter of which percentile is better and that is all.
