Should I submit my 710 Spanish SAT II?

I know it’s low… I took it at the end of junior year and probably could re-take it and do 1000 times better since I’ve greatly improved over the summer. However, I heard that Duke has a 700 cut off for placement in a good Spanish class or minor or something like that, so maybe my 710 isn’t completely horrendous? I’m non-native as well and have many Spanish related activities and recommendaiton from my Spanish teacher… would this hurt or should i retake it in Feb. or Jan. or just not send it at all?

<sarcasm> Yeah, a 710 is SOOOO low for an exam out of 800 </sarcasm>.
If you think it’s a bad score, then don’t send it.

well i mean, its the 64st percentile. i dont know if its a good score or not… i think im not going to send it. sorry if i came across like that cause standardized tests are the weakest part of my application and i dont want to make it worse.

lol I’m sorry if that came off as mean, I was just kidding! Um my friend sent in a 700 Spanish score and she was accepted last year. I’m sure a 710 won’t hurt you, especially if you aren’t a native

Just send it. Low scores don’t really hurt you and score choice makes them suspicious. I got several 500s on my SAT IIs and was accepted ED.

Will Brown really know if you use score choice? I got a 2190 on my 1st SAT. I took it again like 6 months later and scored lower… my superscore didn’t even increase. Should i still send the second score?

I sent my 690 US History because I was in the 75 percentile lol. Just send it.

I sent two 710’s to Brown. I think 700+scores are really good. Maybe my standards are lower…?

Yes. All colleges know if you’ve used score choice or not. It is indicated whether or not you’ve used score choice in your sent SAT scores.

oh ok thanks i was just freaking out. i think i’ll just send it. this whole college thing just drives me nuts i overthink everything waaay too much.

Colleges don’t know if you have used score choice, but if they require all scores, send them all.

I sent my 670 Physics score. I’m considering retaking it in Jan. (if they even take Jan scores), but from what I’ve heard, Brown’s AdCom isn’t as crazy about SAT’s as other competitive schools. I wouldn’t worry about it, it’s over 710.

Btw, I don’t think the percentile is as bad as it might seem for SAT II’s. If you think about it, everyone who takes them is specialized in that subject, to a degree, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise if you’re only in the top 30/20% when, on tests that everyone takes (SAT I’s, ACT), you might be in the top 5%.

u can retake in jan if u wish…(if its available)
