Hey guys, I want to apply to NYU Steinhardt or CAS Early Decision 1 for psychology. My ACT and SAT scores are both within range, but my SAT is slightly lower. Should I just submit the ACT then?
ACT
C: 33
E: 34
M: 34
R: 35
S: 28
Not sure on my essay yet. The first time I took the ACT I got an 8.
My scores are so similar to yours, and I’m also hoping to be in NYU Class of 2020!! I have the same essay scores except my ACT is a 34 and sat is a 2090 (writing 670). I would go with the ACT, but I believe you can submit both if you want. They might just look at the higher score. Since both are within range, you’re safe either way I think…
Also, make sure for the early decision that if you get accepted, you are mostly bound to that school even if you don’t get all the financial aid you wanted (especially since NYU’s an expensive school).
“Students will only be released from the Early Decision agreement if their estimated financial aid package does not enable them to attend. Students must be aware that applying Early Decision will not enable them to compare financial aid packages from other universities. If comparing financial aid packages will be necessary for a student, the student should apply under our Regular Decision program. NYU will still reserve the majority of our admission offers for students applying for Regular Decision, so students should not feel pressure to apply Early Decision if finances are of concern.”

“Why not both?”
Hmmm… Fiesta noises
(This might sound really offensive if you haven’t seen the commercial. It’s just a taco shell commercial, I promise.)
Anywho, I actually think because your ACT score is so high, and it costs money to send in scores, and they’ll probably disregard your SAT score anyway, it would probably make more sense to just send that one in. I’m no expert though - that’s just my opinion.
