Should I take a 3rd SAT?

So I took my first real SAT in May 2014, no studying or anything, and got a 2000. I then took it in January 2015 and was planning on doing a lot of studying throughout the fall and winter, but family issues and other commitments consumed my time, and so I only improved to a 2050. I’m looking at taking an SAT in October and studying all summer since I won’t have to worry about school. I want to apply to Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, and others that have higher-caliber SAT scores. Is it worth it, and what is the best prep for all around improvement? (M: 710, W:700, CR:640)

By the way, I am currently a junior going into my senior year.

Yes, take it again!

Make sure to include some other schools that are less selective in your list as well.

Take it again. Consider a prep class. My D went up 200 pts after taking a weekly class over the summer before senior year. Key was she did all of the homework assignments. If you dont try again you will always wonder. Did you try ACT? Maybe try that in september too? Good luck.
