Should I take an AP course over the summer?

I am currently a Junior but I will graduate with 3 Ap courses total. I feel this is a little under-par, but there are not many Ap’s at my school that I will do well in. I am taking a summer entrepreneurship course at USC in a couple months. But I was wondering, should I take an intensive Ap Economics course over the summer as well? Will this boost the appeal of my application? Will they view it as graduating with 4 Aps? Thanks!

I don’t think a summer AP course is a good idea. I do, however, think that self-studying APs is a great idea-if you have the self-discipline or the support of a good teacher.

Which APs have/are you taking?

I am taking AP Biology currently, and next year, I plan to take AP Spanish and AP Calculus AB. If I study for an AP exam without taking the course, it will not go toward my college application though, because they will accept/deny me before I show that I took it

Not on your transcript, no, but you can include it as an extracurricular activity.

My recommendation would be to take it this summer and when you apply send in everything on paper. That way you can fully explain all of your ECs to the fullest extent possible and you can easily explain the course and why you did it (interest, etc.). Btw, most people who take a course through one of USC’s summer program things get in from what I’ve heard.
