well to tell u the truth i didn’t really pay attention in honors bio during freshmen year
if i study and pay attention in class will i do well in AP bio?
also im taking ap stat ap cacl AB and AP comp science next year

It really depends on your goals. First of all, if you plan on going to a heavily science oriented school or to major in a science field, I strongly recommend you take AP Bio. However, if you feel you actually have a choice, it comes down to your teacher. How hard is the teacher? If you have a hard teacher, you will have to work for your A. There’s far too much studying required in AP Bio for even most people on this forum to really succeed when a teacher gives brutal and uncurved tests.

AP biology also can be self-studied. If you are interested in Biology then yes you will do well. Also, I agree with magiscoder, it should all come down to how your teacher is.

yes but my question is does honors bio have anything to do with ap bio?
or can i start fresh in ap bio?
btw since im taking all these ap in senior year and dont have any in junior year
i can still send my ap scores to colleges? or itll be too late?

You can start fresh. Depending on your semester system for AP you may be at a disadvantage from other students. Are you currently in the class?

no imt now
those r the classes ill be taking next year

Oh sorry, I forgot to answer that part of your question. While honors bio helps, an an advanced anatomy class helps even more, you can definitely take AP Bio without any background knowledge. I’m doing fine, and I never took any introductory classes.

k im taking anatomy atm
btw, colleges get the scores in senior year ofr these classes when we apply or they just look at them in class grades because we dont take ap exams until after we apply?

You have anatomy in high school? That is just amazing…

This a difficult question to answer, but I think that if you are lagging behind in Honors Bio, you might not make it in AP Biology. This is because you need to know quite a broad amount of material in AP Biology - and anything in the syallbus is fair game in the exam. It is mostly the Physiology questions that get students because there is a LOT to know.

However, since you are taking Anatomy now, which from my college courses, is quite difficult, you can make it in AP Biology with that extra knowledge. Just emphasize your studying on Molecular Biology (Cell Biology, Energetics and Genetics) and do your plants and ecology, and you will be fine for a 5.

i think you could/should take AP bio…but i agree it does come down to your teacher…if you dont have a good one, your year will suck.
and make sure you dont mind reading ALOT because AP Bio is all about tons of reading (for me it was 50-70 pages a night) and memorization (flashcards ALL year).
the reading part might only apply to my school…

Hello, I am walking into AP Bio with 7th grade biology (one quarter) which was 4 years ago. So really, I haven’t taken any introductory classes. Is it tough without Honors Bio? Did you have to study more without backround info?
