Question: I am an incoming Junior. My school has AP Capstone program ( https://lp.collegeboard.org/ap-capstone) and I am interested to take AP Seminar in my Jr Year.So to go for that, I have to sacrifice foreign language ( Spanish IV / AP Spanish ).Any suggestion how AP Capstone is perceived by colleges ? Since I am targeting the Ivy colleges, will 3yrs of foreign languages ( i have completed Spanish III so far ) be enough ?
thanks
Since you are targeting Ivy League schools, you should be aware that all Ivy League schools, except Cornell, suggest 4 years of FL, whereas none of these schools give credit for the AP Capstone exams. I’d suggest continuing with Spanish.
Thanks for your quick response ! In that case, if I do the Spanish IV in an accredited online private school ( https://lss.brainhoney.com/Frame/Component/Home) in my Jr year, in stead of doing in my high school, will that be still OK ?
^ Yes, it would be fine. In foreign languages, colleges generally don’t care how you get to the level they suggest.
Don’t sacrifice foreign language for AP Capstone/Seminar (ie., don’t sacrifice a core class for an elective).
