Hey guys. From what I herd at spring insight, CMPSC 8 was for people who did not know how to program, or forgot.

I do know how to program, but I mostly work with AS3, AS2 and Lua, which is not python which i herd they teach in CMPSC 8.

The purpose of CS8 isn’t so much to teach people Python as it is to give an introduction to extremely fundamental programming practices like variable declarations, use of functions, recursions, and control flows (for, while, do-while). If you believe that given a project you know when and where to use those practices, you don’t need to take CS8.

to get an idea, check out the labs and assignments for cs 8: [Computer Science 8](http://www.cs.ucsb.edu/~buoni/cs8/)

if you find them to be easy, then you should take cs 16

If you already know how to program, then you probably wouldn’t benefit much from CS8. It’s all very basic stuff.
