I am thinking to transfer to Columbia in Fall 2017. I go to a college in Texas right so I have to complete the core and satisfy all the requirements. I came in with a lot of credits so I have half of the core done already. Should I just continue with my core classes for spring semester or take rigorous courses that usually upperclassmen take? Please help!
@bindigirl it really depends. What is your major and college Gpa?
Keep working toward the degree requirements where you are. There is no need to jump to higher level courses.
My major’s political science and my college GPA right now is 3.87 on a scale of 4.0
@bindigirl polysci is seen as a very easy major so I would step it up because a 3.87 is not that impressive unless you go to Rice
I assume you realize that the chances of transfer admission to Columbia arevery, very low.
Expand your list a bit, OP. We’re transfer students, so our odds of getting into selective universities are even lower “this time around”. Have a nice list with a reach or two, plenty of matches and a safety.
As to your question, stick with core classes related to your major, and do very well on them. Georgetown is a great university for the area you like, and their transfer acceptance rate is almost 14%. Good luck!
Absolute crap. Ignore this, OP. It’s nonsensical. Why only Rice???
Perhaps you should talk to an advisor, who will know better than random people on the internet.
