Should I take Mechatronics/Robotics DE or AP Calculus BC?

Hello,

I’m a junior, and I’m torn on what classes to take for my senior year. My planned schedule is:

IB Chemistry SL Year Two
IB English HL Year Two
IB Math Year SL Two
IB Spanish Year SL Two
IB Visual Arts Yr HL Two
IB 20th Century History HL Year Two
Mechatronics/Robotics DE

During my senior transition summer, I’m taking Physics 1(calc-based) and Calculus 1 at a local University.I want to take Calculus BC to get credit for Calculus 2 before I leave high school, but I also want to learn more about robotics. My plan in college is to major in Computer Engineering. I feel like Calculus BC will benefit me more b/c I will save money and time in college. However, I don’t know what I want to specialize inside of Computer Engineering, so I want to take robotics to explore my interest.

Can anybody give some advice on whether to take Mechatronics/Robotics Dual Enrollment or AP Calc BC?

You might save one class for one semester in college. That’s really not much over a four year period. If the Robotics will help focus your interest that might be the better option. Ultimately, pick the one you prefer. Neither option will be a detriment.

If you are an IB diploma kid I would not take any classes other than the 6 IB classes. In addition to those you have your e e and your tok essay and college aps.
