I have a 2270 on my SAT as of right now which is both my single and super score. I have a 4.0 weighted GPA and I want to apply to colleges such as: UMich, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, UIUC etc. These are all for Engineering.
Feel free to ask any questions and any advice would be great.
If I were you, I wouldn’t waste my time. 2200+ is a competitive score for the schools you are applying to. Since you are applying as an engineer, you should be focusing on taking SAT subject tests in Math 2 and physics.
I agree with the previous person. A 2270 is a very good and competitive score. Good for you!
Thank you for your advice @sophie9999 and @IvyLeaguer225. I will take these subject tests and try to get 800s to make up for SAT.
SAT 2270 is a good score and is around the 75th percentile of these schools. So for sure it is sufficient. However, if you believe you should get a better score (in SAT or ACT), you may go ahead to do so. It may help you to get merit scholarships at these schools.
Is the ACT a big step away from SAT?
With a 2270, I see no reason for you to even try the ACT. But to answer your question, the tests test similar material but in different ways. ACT has more of a time-crunch, harder math, a science section, and less tricks involved.
For OP, it does not matter to retake SAT or switch to ACT as the SAT would be in new format anyway.
