I am a rising senior with currently a 1510 new SAT superscore, 1480 single sitting. All of my match/reaches superscore though so I don’t think the single sitting matters. The breakdown was very even(760 M, 750 EBRW) and I don’t think I’ll get much higher. On an impulse decision I signed up for the September ACT. My SAT converts to a 33 using the superscore or a 32 using the single sitting. I’m beginning to question whether starting with the ACT now is even worth it. The most selective schools I’m looking at right now are Georgetown, BC, Lehigh, and Villanova, all of which I have above average scores already. My reasoning for signing up for the ACT was that a higher score could only help and it could help with scholarships at my safeties, primarily at Pitt which I would be ecstatic to go to if I could get a large scholarship. My score right now barely meets the cutoff(requirement is 1490) so I don’t know if I would get anything big. Is it worth taking the ACT or should I just not go? Georgetown requires all scores too so it might look bad if I do bad especially after my above average SAT. Any thoughts?
Have you taken a released practice test or 2? Unless you are scoring 35-36, I’d recommend sleeping in. A 1 point difference (34) is not going to make much difference, and if your practice tests are not coming in at the very top, you face the risk of a lower score. It’s not a big risk, but it’s not a big upside either. Georgetown likes to see Subject Tests, so I’d worry more about those.
