I’m currently an IB certificate student, which means I’m taking several IB classes (along with AP classes), but I’m not completing the full IB diploma. I was wondering if I should take the AP Chemistry exam to increase my chances of US university admission, even if I’m an IB Higher level chemistry student. I was going to take the AP Chemistry exam along with the IB HL chemistry exam. My counsellor said this is redundant since I’m already doing a higher level chemistry course, but I feel as if I need to “prove” myself since I’m not doing the full IB diploma.
Taking an AP Chemistry exam, or any AP exam for that matter, will not increase your chances for admission.
