Should I take the chem subj test??

Hi,

I recently took AP Chem junior year and got an A in the class. I expected a 4 or 5 on the ap test but instead I got a 3. I was very disappointed in my score, as I am also asking the teacher for a letter of rec. Since I am asking her for a letter, do you think colleges will look badly upon me if I don’t report my AP Score for the class I am getting a rec from? I did get an A in the class, so it’s not all that bad. I also scored poorly on my chem subject test (690, I guess I’m just not good at standardized tests), and do not plan reporting that either. Is it worth busting my ass and studying for the October 1st sat chem test again and trying to score higher to make up for the bad AP score? If it helps, I am applying to Vanderbilt ED, Duke, UNC, UVA, Emory, Brown, and Pomona.

bump lol

Forgot to mention I plan on doing pre med/ econ as an undergrad!

Do you have other SAT IIs besides chemistry?

I took the US History Subject test and got a 730. I am also taking Math 2 this October.

Just take the Math 2 if you actually need it (most schools don’t need/use them). AP scores are generally not used for admission.

Yeah, I would just try to score as high as you can on Math 2. You really only need 2 subject tests and a 3 on an AP test isn’t the end of the world. You can spend the time you would have spent studying for the chem test with your friends and family and doing things you like to do. (And doing applications/writing essays)
