Should I take the ACT? I’ve taken PSAT twice and SAT twice, my most recent sat score is 2150, math 740, Critical reading 710, Writing 700 essay 9. I have the SAT blue book and I have taken 2 practice exams total. I excel in mathematics and science and a bit less in reading and writing. Based on my history with the SAT format, my scores, and my abilities, should I take the ACT? Please explain you’re thoughts ASAP, today is the last day for me to register without a late fee, much appreciated.
someone please help me.
Why not? I mean, if you feel you can get better than the SAT equivalent, which is roughly a 31 or 32, then go ahead.
Have you taken any ACT practice tests? Do you have time to prep over the next month for the June ACT? ACT is more of a speed test – being able to answer straightforward questions quickly. There is no penalty for guessing, scores are based on how many correct answers, not how many correct minus a fraction of how many wrong. The English section is primarily grammar, punctuation and sentence structure, there is no vocabulary per se. Math includes some basic pre-calc/trig. Science is more of a science-reading comprehension than a test of independent science knowledge. For some students, the ACT score is much better, for others, it is more comparable to their SAT score and there is no real advantage taking the ACT.
If you haven’t done any ACT practice tests to see how you do, without any prep, then the question is whether to register today, then take some practice tests and see whether you do better on the ACT, and possibly walk away taking the June test, losing the registration fee, if it turns out not to be worth it That may be a cheaper option than not registering now, doing some practice, and then paying the late registration fee in a week or so.
It’s not really necessary since your SAT score is fine. A 1450 in CR+M is not bad at all and, unless you think you can do better on the ACT without having to take too much time out to prep, it’s not really necessary to go with the ACT.
money doesn’t matter, but do you guys think, based on what I’ve told you, that I should or should not take the ACT?
