Should I take the Math II even if I have a semi-low SAT Math score?

I’m going into the humanities, and my forte consists of languages, history, politics, and so forth. Although I like math and am reasonably good at science for a humanities person, I definitely cannot compare to people with real math and science skills. Just as an example, I got a 730 on the SAT Math on my first try, and while I think I can raise that to 750 or 760, I don’t expect to ever get 800. In school, I do take the highest levels of math and science available, but I average a low A that falls far short of the perfect scores and understanding some of my classmates exhibit.

Given this information, I’m worried that I could score below a 750 on the Math II, and I’m very disinclined to take a science subject test because science would probably turn out even worse. However, I don’t know if submitting only a language subject test and history subject test is enough for the top colleges (e.g. Ivy Leagues and other excellent research universities). Do I need to take the Math II to demonstrate a broader range of skills to colleges? Or should I play it safe and only take humanities tests?

(Keep in mind that it is possible that I can score well on the Math II…I haven’t actually tried a practice test yet, so this is simply speculation from my experience as a good but nowhere near great math student.)

A lot of people who are strongly math inclined don’t score 800s on SAT Math because of the general ‘puzzle question’ trickiness. The SAT Math II is less puzzleness and more just straight up math concepts. So the Math II may work out a lot better than you may think; try taking some practice tests.
