Should I take the SAT again?

I had an extremely low SAT score, I was not prepared nor was I ever taught the importance of SAT’s. I took the SAT test last year which was my senior year. Anxiety also contributed with my low score due to the overwhelming process of filling out college applications during that school year. I’m going on to be a sophomore @ at CC this upcoming semester, but I’m planning on transferring to a four year university(University of Maryland) Fall 2016. UMD doesn’t require you to send SAT scores if you have 30 or more college credits, but they do consider it. What should I do??

@dreamadream, I don’t know the answer to your question as I’m not a test prep expert or admissions expert, but I would I suggest you call the UMaryland admissions department (today) and ask them. If they suggest it would be a good idea, then look at the test prep threads here on College Confidential and do some independent studying during the summer (i.e., now), so that you can re-take the test as early as October. If you want some help to find the right threads to get started, just message me and I’ll help you find them.

Kudos to you for being independent and proactive. That counts for a lot, both in college and in the real world.

The most important thing – I’m sure you know – is to buckle down and get the very best grades you can while you’re at the CC so you can prove to UMaryland that you can handle the workload.

Good luck!

@SoccerMomGenie Thank you so much, I definitely want to take it in October before the new SAT in March of 2016. I’ll start calling and emailing UMD tomorrow.
