I am planning on taking the SAT again in January. I was deferred from several schools and thought it might be a good idea. My SAT score is ok (1240 Reading/Writing 660, Math 580). On the essay, however, I received an 8/7/8. I obviously need to raise my composite score, but I really don’t want to have to sit through the essay. By the end of the test I am out of it and during the last test, I wrote my essay in the last 25 min. I don’t even know how I received the essay score I did and don’t know if could do it again or get a perfect score, which is all that if left. However, if I receive a composite score that is higher, I don’t want colleges to see in my score report that I didn’t take the essay and penalize me. My schools say the essay is important to them and/or supplemental information. I don’t know what’s a better thing to do, take it again and risk a lower essay score or not take it and only have to worry about the main test but risk disapproval in admissions.
This is really last minute, but I have 30 mins to sign up for the SAT. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
