Should I take the SAT or SAT 2 come June?

Alright guys, I took the SAT as a Sophomore with almost no preparation.

Critical Reading 580
Math 450
Writing 560

So solid scores, not bad, not great. Just average. Except for math, its terrible <_<. The last few weeks I’ve gotten a little bit of prep, and have picked up very simple tips that I did not know about, but wow did they sure help. I am more than confident I will easily break 630 ish on the reading and writing sections, as I did on the PSAT I took back in (october I think?)

And Math… bleh -__-, I’m majoring in Journalism anyway. If I can break 550 I will be happy, I am positive I can. I just hate math, it’s not me at all.

Anywho, the main school I am looking at is Northeastern. I’ll be registering in June and in October for the tests. The question is, which to take first?

I know for sure I am doing Literature, and Latin (have 3 years of Latin under my belt). And possibly US history (though Ive heard scary things about it).

I do not take Latin as a senior, or US history. So I am worried that I might forget material.

So I figure to take the SAT subject test come June, and the main test in the fall. But what do you guys think?

You can only take Latin in November buddy.

[SAT Subject Test Calendar](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board Will No Longer Offer SAT Subject Tests or SAT with Essay – College Board Blog)

Says you can take it in June?

here are the statistics for Northeastern

SAT Critical Reading: 570 - 660
SAT Math: 600 - 680
SAT Writing: - -
ACT Composite: 25 - 29

Ha yea Math is the death of me. Though they do count writing now, wonder what theyre looking for there?

So cmon guys, any advantage/disadvantage on the timing of the test I take?

Keep in mind that if you don’t take Latin in June, you’ll have to wait until December to take it. If that will be an issue, you may want to take the SAT IIs in June. Otherwise, I would lean toward taking the SAT I in June, but I’ll let someone who’s more experienced give you a more definite answer.

Don’t use the logic that I want to major in _, therefore I don’t need _. I just visited the University of Virginia and I brought up how my ACT scores in Science were weak and how I’m not taking science next year. I asked the admissions officer if that really matters if I don’t even plan on doing any science. He said it does matter because they can’t make decisions based on our tentative high school plans.

Subject test in June and SAT I in fall would be fine, but you’re cutting it REALLY close. You probably should’ve started earlier

Ah such a simple overlook on my part, I can’t take Latin come October.

I’ll be applying early action for Northeastern in november. If I don’t do Latin now then I can’t take it again until December.

So I have two options.

A.) Take the SAT in June, and then again, for the third time, in October.

B.) Take the Subject test in June, and for the second time take the SAT in October.

Option A allows me to send the highest possible SAT scores to Northeastern when I apply for early action. Option B allows me to send the subject test and whatever I get on the October test.
