<p>Yes that would be fine unless the Singaporean army has anything against it. It could make an interesting and unique story.</p>
<p>Absolutely - it should prove interesting to the admissions reader as military career paths tend to be separated from traditional postsecondary education in the US.</p>
<p>Do mention briefly that it is mandatory for Singaporean men. There may be anti-military audiences in US higher education, and that will help to restrain their judgments. </p>
<p>Regarding confidential information - you do need to confirm with your superiors. Get in touch with them after your first draft is done, and perhaps even send it to them. Singapore has harsher censorship laws. Chances are they won’t care, especially if you’ve had limited exposure outside of training, but it’s essential to check. </p>
<p>On a more personal level, you also want to ask yourself whether operations details are needed in your story. Your statement should ultimately keep the attention on yourself, not the Singaporean training style/a full coverage of your activities. This is the sort of topic where you’ll have to hold off from sounding like you are bragging or putting yourself on a higher pedestal, as it’s all too easy to do that.</p>
