I don’t have much EC’s in my profile, but that’s kinda due to the fact that I’m a foreign female living in Saudi Arabia. It’s not that I don’t like it, but I think it has a huge effect on admissions. Add to that not having any APs nor honor classes, because the educational system here isn’t like that. I didn’t worry about it much at first, but now when I think about it, I think it would be really unfair if I get rejected because of that. I mean, it kills me to know that there’s nothing I can do about it. So should I write a letter to the admissions office or would they think I’m just making up excuses?

I dont think that you need to write to the admissions office. They will understand your predicament.

Admissions officers preach about how they view each student in their own context. You’ll be judged on the opportunities you did have available and took. It’s not your fault if there were’nt AP classes offered. No worries.

What PhilKenSebben said is true. If you get denied, it won’t be for lack of AP classes. Don’t compare yourself to the overachievers at US high schools – the admissions office won’t either.

Hopefully you can fold in to what you have learned living there into portions of your essay answers.

can you get a school report? it’s important that the schools you are applying to know what was available to you vs what you chose not to do

if you write a letter, write it in a matter-of-fact way saying this is what my school offers adn tehy will connect dots as to your ec list. don’t apologize for yourself or make it sound excusatory
