Should I transfer or am I overreacting?

I just went to my frosh orientation (at a CSU) to register for classes. I ended up not getting English, chemistry, or physics. The only major pre req I managed to get into was Calculus and I don’t even have a real professor teaching it. They didn’t even let me attempt to register for engineering 10 (intro engineering course) because it filled up completely before I even got to my orientation date.

I’m pretty unhappy with this and at this rate it looks like I’ll end up taking way too long to graduate. Not to mention a 16 units per semester cap which may be bothersome by my junior year. I’m thinking of transferring to a CC for my sophomore year then transferring to a UC or private school.

Am I just overreacting to a registration that didn’t go my way or should I seriously consider transferring?

Maybe CC, if they aren’t impacted.

Is your CSU one of those with a four year graduation pledge program (e.g. Pomona, Fresno, San Bernardino)?

If so, sign up for it to get registration priority.

I’m in the process of transferring. Having a July orientation date, I ran into the same issue as you did with classes being full. I simply identified who was in charge of the classes I wanted to take (by asking my advisors secretary), sent those people an email requesting an override into the class, and registered when they were granted.

I have 4 classes this semester and had to get overrides into 3 of them. Have you asked anyone about this?

Overrides? How does that work?
