a university? i have a 4.11 w in hs and 3.73 uw. 1850 on sats. btw do ppl retake sat’s if they transfer? or just leave their original score? i also have gotten 30 units in college classes before graduating hs. however these wont transfer becuz its done before graduation. i also applied to:

pepperdine
oxy
LMU
UCLA
UCI
UC berkeley
claremont mckenna
northwestern
NYU-rejected
Brown
Vanderbilt
chapman

i really want to go to USC or NYU and ivies are probly out of my reach. so what should i do? go to community or university? im a senior in hs.

I would just go to another 4 year university. I’m also applying to NYU and USC, although I’m not that desperate to get in and would much rather go to a different 4 year university than community college for 2 years.

If you absolutely couldn’t imagine going anywhere else besides USC, then go to community college. If not, then go somewhere else. You have a good shot at Pepperdine/LMU which are also in LA.

yeahh…im almost positive ill get into either of those two, but i really imagined going to NYU, altho my heart WAS set on USC before. im just kinda worried that if i go to community and then get in at nyu, what if i dont like it? as in the ppl and i heard some classes have a lot of ppl…but thats seems to be the case at every college. i thot private schools strictly have that student to teacher ratio but i guess not; they only have that for the more concentrated classes (for the major) and not general ed.

If you don’t get into USC, but instead get into some of the schools you listed, you should probably go there. For one, being a transfer means you miss out on the whole freshman experience and the dorm experience and all that. You might think it’s not that important, but college is also suppose to be some of the most fun experiences of your life. It’s more than just academics.

There are some schools I would rule out though. The only schools I would choose if I didn’t get into USC would be UCLA, UC Berkeley, Claremont-McKenna, Northwestern, Brown, and Vandy. Don’t go to Oxy, LMU, Pepperdine, or Chapman. You’re better off going to CC and getting good grades and transferring to a school like 'SC. UCI…meh…that’s a toss up. I personally would go there if all the schools except LMU, Oxy, etc. rejected me. Irvine isn’t that bad.

lol thats REALLY good advice. thanx! ur right. i forgot about the whole freshman experience and all that. and i would miss out on A LOT. honestly, ive been waiting to get out of this town that i live in and when i got rejected from NYU, all i could care about was trying to find some way in. but now im thinkin that i could either go there for grad school or just live in new york after college. after all, if i WANT to live in new york, i could spend 8 years here or (4 if i get in for grad school).

and believe me: i would want to go to any of those schools that u listed too instead of oxy, lmu, pepperdine or chapman. i really dont want to go to any of these 4 but there are definitely my back ups, that sadly, i think will be the only places ill get accepted. lol USC was my first choice before i changed my mind to nyu.

btw i want to be a Dr but everyone says that only a few people get into medical school. should i consider changing my major? im really not a …genius or anything. just the average girl who likes to go out once in a while and i mean, i care about homework and school (otherwise i get anxiety lol that im gonna fail and go no where in life), but im not the grl who gets 99% on tests and stuff (like ppl do in my class.) im usually the one who gets 90-92%. also, i wouldnt really want to go to irvine either. idk why i applied there but maybe if i get rejected from pepperdine or LMU or oxy, i’d go there. i really want to go to a private skool tho.
