My GPA is low due to special circumstances that impacted me during Sophomore Year

Unfortunately my school is HUGE 4000+ kids, and the counselors don’t do things in an organized manner, so naturally things get lost.

I turned in my Honors form to the counselors around Oct. 30, he sent my rec. on Nov. 29 and it got to A&M on Dec. 4, to make a long story short, they apparently got the rec. but not the form.

My counselor has tried to correct this with them, but will not acknowledge the fact that he recieved the honors form.

Basically I have given him another one that he sent in Jan.

Even though I know that the deadline was Dec. 1

Do you think it wise to write a letter to the Dean of Enrollment or Engineering telling him my situation and that I am very serious about attending A&M given Honors and Scholarships, I do believe that my SAT puts me in range.

Will they buy this?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Can’t hurt, can it? You should make a phone call as well, after you send your letter.

k thanks, good to know that it is not out of the question

A letter or phone call is never out of the question…if it’s done politely and respectfully. The worst they can do is send a polite reply of “no”. If it really means a lot to you, it’s definitely worth trying.

Remember they want people like you: the cream of the crop of the applicant pool. You’re the kind of applicant who can easily go to any other school. And many schools will throw lots of money to get applicants like you. At the very least, I’d hope that they could offer some sort of scenario where you’re put on a wait list for the honors college this year. Other than that, there’s always applying after your freshman year there.
