should i try to retake a final exam?

i’m taking a math course at a community college. i’ve had As on all of my tests and an A average in homework. on the day of the final, i was sick so i was on a lot of cold/flu medications which made me groggy. i still haven’t got my grade yet but i don’t think i did that will and i think it will bring my overall grade to a B.

will it be worth it to ask the teacher to retake it? i have a 4.0 gpa.

i’ve heard that once i transfer to a university, community college grades aren’t really considered for graduate schools?

i am not sure what to do. should i just take 1 B? am i overreacting?

i am also going through withdrawal still from benzo addiction, which might be why i am getting sick easily, i dont know if i should try to use it as part of my exscuse? i know this isnt a great moment for me but i want to do well in school and i dont plan on this happening again.

Unless you have a doctor’s note, I wouldn’t ask.

Depending on how the final is weighted, you might still hang on to your A. For instance, last semester I was holding like a 98% average in my math class. I was in my math teachers office one day the week before finals and we looked at my grade just out of curiosity, and he figured out that I would have had to get less than a 45% on the final to lose my A. It was weighted as 20% of the overall course grade.

So, depending on how high your A average is, you might still hang on to it.

That said, grad schools will look at your overall cumulative college GPA, including courses that were taken in CC. However, your upper level courses are going to carry more weight than lower level courses. Plus grad schools look at a lot more than just GPA.
