Like many of you, I applied before Dec. 1 (partially for scholarship consideration, but mostly because my School of Theatre Supplement was due on that date as well) and have not been admitted yet. I received “the letter” that told me I hadn’t been selected for the Trustee or Presidential scholarships and, basically, to keep waiting.

At the end of last year, when my application was already submitted, a one act play I wrote was one of of eight selected by the ACT Theatre in Seattle, a very highly respected Equity house, to be performed in their “Young Playwrights Festival.” A director has cast the show with prominent professional actors, and it will be rehearsed over the next month and performed in March.

My application is strong in some areas, but weaker in others. I got a 2300 on the SAT, but my GPA is a 3.5. I feel like something like this might be enough to tilt the scale in my favor, but I don’t know how to contact the admissions office with this information, or if I even should.

Congrats! That’s a really neat accomplishment.

I would definitely send an email to the admissions officer and have him or her add it to your file. Not only will it show that you ARE serious about theatre, and that you’re good at it, but it will also show that you’re not slacking off senior year.

Congrats! That’s awesome & certainly something to share.

We did have my S update his USC admissoin’s counselor. He also got the “didn’t get chosen for President’s or Trustee’s scholarship” letter in Jan/Feb. Since he was a NMF, he got the NMF presidential anyway. I know many kids who got in, even tho they didn’t get interviewed for the scholarships.
