Should I wait for MIT decisions/regular decisions or commit to Barry University?

Hi, I’m an international student. I recently got admission into barry university with a partial scholarship for spring 2024. I wanted to ask if I should wait for rd universities(and mit ea) or commit to barry university.
Stats:
UWGPA: 5.0/5.0 (school doesn’t do weighted)
SAT: 1490 (Couldn’t retake sadly)
ECs: Won a nationwide hackathon, Have started a couple semi-successful businesses, been cto of a tech company, Robotics competition, State-wide math competition etc
Also, I’ve been on a gap year since last 2 years(when I graduated hs at 13), Been working fulltime remotely as a swe etc.

I want to go to the united states(don’t really care about degree unless its from mit or caltech). I think I can go to barry university. Should I forget about committing there and try to apply/get into a better university?

So you’re only 15 years old?
If yes, this is going to be a challenge as most schools have age limits for living in the dorm (unless you have independent living arrangements).

From your past threads it sounds like you already applied to several elite schools and got rejected? Did you apply to MIT last year?
Unless something has changed dramatically, I wouldn’t expect different results this time around.

Is Barry a better option for you than schools in your home country? Is it financially affordable?

The probability of getting into MIT or others like it is very slim.

Unless Barry is insisting that you commit right now, WAIT. I don’t know of a single college that makes you answer before April. So absolutely no reason to send in a deposit now. Something good might happen.

OP has spring admission, and therefore needs to commit earlier.

But @Science_Geeks I see that they need students to commit and put down a deposit by Dec 1. You’ve missed that date already.

Could you ask Barry whether you could start there in September, and put down a deposit by May 1st? Are you applying for spring to MIT and Caltech, or for next September?

Ok. Here’s the thing. I applied last year to a couple of universities and got into a bunch of them. We chose an affordable uni to commit to but my dad ended up making me not to commit anywhere.
I’m not applying spring anywhere else but for next september.
@DadOfJerseyGirl My admissions letter says I have till this friday to commit. I
@parentologist Its spring admissions so… yh.

Barry is kinda better for me than other schools in my home country, I also dont want to school in my home country. I can afford barry’s fees so yh its financially affordable.

If you were accepted “into a bunch of them” I take it you applied to more than two (“a couple”). I asked above if they were schools at the level of MIT and Caltech. Can you name some schools you were accepted and rejected from? That might give some indication of what to expect, assuming you’ve had no major update to your profile.

And MIT and Caltech don’t do spring admissions anyway.

Ok.
P.S My application last year was really bad(terrible essays, forgot to report a lot of stuff, just added 1 ec, My counsellor made a mistake while preparing my transcript etc)
Accepted:

  • Clemson
  • UBuffalo
  • URochester

Rejected:

  • About 6 schools including northwestern, gatech, vanderbilt etc.

My profile has actually really changed but also my application is a lot better. Anyways thats it.

With respect to getting accepted to colleges, you did really well!
