should i wait to apply RD if i can get my GPA up .3 points? (engineering)

I have a 3.75 now, but i can get it up to 3.78/79 at the end of 1st semester senior year. should i wait and apply RD or should i apply ED with a 3.75 to top colleges like colorado school of mines, Cooper Union, Olin, case western, uiuc, etc.
Im applying as an engineering major.
also chance me at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1673599-chance-me-to-cooper-union-engineering.html#latest</a></p>

If it is your top choice school, Appliy early decision so that there is the possibility you could be deferred and they know that you’re serious about the college. However it’s not your top school and you would like to apply to an even more difficult school to get into such as any of the ivies, top UC’s, top 25 schools, etc., you should definitely consider regular decision. Shoot for any of the top schools 3.75 while it is low can still get you into top school if you have other amazing things. What does the rest of your application look?

@Frodjekhalverson‌ all my stats are listed in this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1673599-chance-me-to-cooper-union-engineering.html#latest</a> please chance me to cooper union as well.

bump

You’re off a decimal place. We’re talking .03, not .3.

If u do not see the mathematical insignificance of this, maybe u are not cut out for engineering.

If you can bring up the GPA by 0.3 in one semester, your cumulative GPA would be too low for top 25 schools. ;)

Note that a higher GPA in the last semester not only raise the cumulative GPA, it may also demonstrate an upward trend in GPA. That may be more important than the 0.03 increase.

FYI, UIUC engineering has an average GPA for admission ~3.9.

oh sorry. BIG EDIT: i meant .03 increase. also @billcsho‌ can you chance me at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1673599-chance-me-to-cooper-union-engineering.html#latest</a>. all my stats are there. what other good engineering schools can i get into?

@GMTplus7‌ yeah youre right. maybe im better off with the arts… jk, i make a lot of silly mistakes (i have innactive adhd), but im really not that bad at math. please look at all my stats in these thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1673599-chance-me-to-cooper-union-engineering.html#latest</a> and can u tell me what good engineering schools i can get into.

Honestly…if i were an adcom… i couldn’t care less between a 3.75 and a 3.78…at this point i would just look at SATs or extracurriculars
