Should my child send SAT IIs?

SAT Is are 740, 750, 760.
Weighted GPA is 4.35
ECs include student body president, concertmaster of orchestra, section editor of newspaper, co-captain of debate team, founder of intramural sports league.
Recs excellent
Essays excellent I think
SAT IIs are:
Math 710
English 740
US History 680
…with some lower ones from earlier that would show up if we sent these:
English 670
Hebrew 580
…though it’s not clear whether the committee would see these…?

But it says SAT IIs are RECOMMENDED, not required. What should we do?

D had Sat I 770,790,700 and SatII’s 670-750’s. D did NOT submit SatII’s to WashU. She is currently a student at WashU. It really is optional.

SAT II scores are sent with SAT scores - it’s automatic. You do not (unfortunately?) get to choose which scores the school will see. They see all of them.

NUgraduate,

They probably sent SAT I before taking SAT IIs (that’s what we did at least – so if SAT IIs were bad, they would not have seen it. The SAT IIs turned out to be good, so we ended up paying twice to send the scores…)

To the OP – I doubt those scores will make or break the decision… You could ask the admissions office, but I bet they’ll tell you to send them, since they would like to have all the info they can get. Maybe your HS counselor will have a record of how many from your school got in with and without SAT IIs…

SAT I scores were sent prior to taking SATII so nobody saw the SATII’s. SATII’s were only sent to schools that required them. We just didn’t feel like spending extra money to send in SATII’s when they weren’t required by WashU and some were lower than the SATI scores. I doubt they would have made a difference either way.

i wouldn’t send. I aagree that either way they aren’t going to make or break. but none of those scores are going to help you, so there’s no point in sending. and SAT II English? isn’t that from a long time ago?

^there still is a SAT II Literature test
