No. Standardized testing is worth more than most people give it credit for

I don’t think anyone agrees that the SAT should be banned. Who can ban a test?

If it is banned, then Colleges would look heavily more upon your grades and ECs. I guess they would need some sort of IQ test, which is the SATs are needed. Its wasteful money and drives people insane that SAT is all it matters into getting into the Ivies. I can’t believe people post their problems that they want over 2200 when they got 2150, and they will gladly pay $35 or more, to get that score, or else their parents will be ****ed off about it. SATs should be banned but like silverturtle said, Who can ban a test? Almost nationwide uses it.

no we need the SATs to screw around people’s brains. otherwise colleges would only look at ECs and GPA and then any school can just pump their students credentials. a nationalized, standardized test is the best way to go.

hell no SAT shudnt be banned. i see people on here sayin “oh, ap statistics is easy” or “man, APES is a joke”, yet my teachers are complete d-bags and refuse to give me A’s. last year i wuz one of tha best essay writers in a NON HONORS, NON AP history class and my teacher gave me a friggin B.

and on SAT practices, i can get up to 2300 wen im lucky. i barely know nebody in my school who will even open their mouths about their scores. because standards literally differ THAT much from school to school, and some people’s GPA’s can be really far from tha truth bout a person, SAT’s r absolutely needed.

do i like the sat? NO.

but…like rishmeister said, that is the only way one can compare people from different schools. An A in one class taught at a particular school might be equivalent to a B at another. But, since the SAT is standardized, a 2100 from one guy shows the same ability as a 2100 from another.

If the question is whether the test should be banned, the answer is no. There is no federal agency in place with the jurisdiction to ban any type of private or non-profit organization (CAPITALISM PEOPLE).

If the questions is about the legitimacy of the SAT, do a friggin forum search.

Where have you been?

I don’t like the SAT very much, but I can’t think of anything better.

Banned?! Certainly not.

It shouldn’t be banned because it’s a nation-wide indicator that measures students abilities in certain areas. GPA’s and EC’s are important, but they vary from school to school. The SAT is a more consistent measure, so in that way it is valuable. The test itself could be better, but it shouldn’t be banned, unless there is good reason.

The SAT has its consistency and calibration issues, but it shouldn’t be outright banned. It’s sometimes a nice weed-out for those jokers who get high grades but are indolent and don’t make a decent effort to reach their academic potentials.
