A) Stage Crew: I have been on Stage Crew since my sophomore year for the productions of Up the Down Staircase, Oklahoma, The Miracle Worker, and The King and I. I was a member of the night crew for Oklahoma, The Miracle Worker, and The King and I. Stage Crew meets every Saturday for six hours beginning two months before the play. As a crew member I am required to assist in building the production’s sets. Night Crew requires attending practices from 3-6 beginning two weeks before the production. Night Crew members work the night of the play and are responsible for preparing for scene changes. A rough estimate for the time I put into stage crew is from 75-125 hours on each play depending on if I was a member of night crew and the number of Saturdays I worked due to forensics.
B) Forensics (varsity letter- 05/07): My sophomore and junior year I competed in a Dramatic Duo for the forensics team. After completing the Oral Interpretation class, my partner and I competed in a total of 11 tournaments over the past two tears, placed first in Catholic leagues twice and attended Nationals in both Milwaukee and Chicago. Tournaments lasted from around seven to one o’clock.
C) Make up Crew: I was on makeup crew once my freshman year for The Sound of Music. I worked the rehearsals and nights of the show. My total time on makeup crew would be around 12 hours.

That was a bit confusing with the interchanging of I and my daughter, but anyway yes she or you or whover that is has a good chance. I don’t really know how dartmouth views acts compared to the sats, but the soft stuff is very impressive. This applicant may want to take the sat I again.

I think she has an “in the running” chance - as you have heard a thousand times on this forum, when you get into the rarefied atmosphere of the top 10-15 colleges, there is a certain amount of chance involved in the application process.
ED never hurts, if your family can afford it. Also her activity list is solid, but school activity centered. Discuss with her which of her interests means the most to her, and how she can write with enthusiasm about that one.
Good luck to her.

She seems to have the academic preparation for a place like Dartmouth. that makes her in the running with a lot of other kids. but what is she passionate about? I’d agree with Cangel. There’s a million kids who are great academically and do a lot of stuff - but what really matters most to her? That’s what she should concentrate on in her application. but yes, her academics are fine for dartmouth. She doesn’t want a laundry list of activities, but what is the one or two things in her life that she’s truly passionate about. That could be her family, or fishing, or going to tag sales, or it could be … . whatever it is, that’s what she should concentrate on in her application. but yes, definitely encourage her to apply if she wants. but I’m sure she’ll succeed wherever she goes.
