Should the fear be true?

Hey! What’s up everyone? I just have a quick question and I want to know everyone’s opinion/thoughts on it. So i just took the ACT yesterday for the first time. But I am worried about the sore I am going to get, hopefully I get something above the nations average. I know that the first time I should not worry so much about the score. However, I am afraid of getting a 20 or lower, and on the practice ACT (PLAN) they said that improvement is difficult. So I am just afraid that I can not improve my score whatsoever on my second test. Do you believe that is true? That if I wanted to increase my score by 7-9 points it’s impossible?

No, it is not impossible. If you’re increasing from low 20s to high 20s and even low 30s, it’s not impossible. Wait to get your score report back, identify your weak areas, study them, and practice practice practice.
There are stories of people increasing their scores 10 points on here, and I myself am confident that I jumped at least 5 points on yesterday’s test.
If you want any tips on preparation let me know.

Thanks CardinalZenn!

No it’s not impossible at all. The plan isn’t really accurate in my opinion because you still haven’t learned much about the subjects and testing yet, so don’t worry about the plan.

I agree with you 16jpatel! But when my teacher was explaining the scores to me and said that the ranges they give each of us was accurate to what we would get. It scared me because I was afraid that I was only going to get a 20 (I never really tried on the PLAN test because it didn’t count against me. A foolish mistake because now I don’t know where my capabilities stand at this point.)

Ok honestly don’t believe her lol. Sorry if I sound so rebellious but my projected plan score range was between something and like a 23. But on the September ACT I got a 25, and I will post my whole story if I get between what I’m aiming for (29-31) from this December ACT!

my projected score on the plan test was like a 23-25 or something, and i ended up getting a 28 the first time so don’t worry about it

Don’t be let down; it’s VERY possible that you can achieve a goal like that. The prep center I go to has students who initially got a medium composite score in the 20’s and ended up achieving scores in the 30’s. It’s really a matter of how dedicated you are to this and if you’re willing to persevere. The very first ACT I took I got a 21 on Science and now it is currently in the 30’s. It was all done through a half year’s practicing too! Remember to practice as much as you can that way you can get a good grasp on concepts.

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate it! I’ll make sure to practice everyday! Have a wonderful day everyone!
