should we try?

My daughter is in HS class of 2012, and she’s interested in Civil Engineering ( emphasis in structures) with “minor” in architecture. Long story on that combo, but for this basic posting, that’s a start. She is in the top few (#1 - #4) of her public school class of 400. She has decent (for Princeton standards) SAT scores of 760 math, 740 reading, 750 writing. Upon HS graduation she’ll have 6 AP classes under her belt. 12 years of dance (tap, jazz, hiphop, point, etc) and 6 years of Latin (so far). National Merit qualified (results pending). Our son had similar stats (sans dance), but was rejected from Princeton.

We toured many schools, and she loved Princeton and Syracuse U (super architecture program). While at Princeton, we had a tour from a current sophmore (friend of family), which was a nice capstone to our visit.

Details provided are sketchy, but I’m trying to paint a basic picture of her stats. Does she have a chance?

Yes, I think so. Princeton is very committed to women in engineering. Dance is very big. My daughter’s friend did her senior thesis at Princeton, in engineering, on a methodology to capture dance movement electronically.
