Shout out to the bread bakers out there

Does anyone have experience with 00 flour ? I was thinking about ordering some from Amazon since I can’t find it at our local grocery stores. Is it worth the extra price ? Please share any experiences

No direct experience but I’m a fan of King Arthur and their product has good reviews.

@lje62, what do you want to make with it?

Pizza dough and breads , maybe some pasta

Sounds like it’s good for pizza dough and pasta.

Personally, I’ve been making the no-knead Dutch oven kind of “artisan” bread from plain old KA unbleached flour, and it is superb: I don’t think one needs 00 flour to achieve the Italian bread effect, if that’s what you’d be going for. Awfully expensive…

A friend of mine makes pizza doughs all the time, and he uses this:

I recently used 00, King Arthur A/P, King Arthur Bread flour in a brotchen recipe (German rolls) and here is what I noticed:

00 flour makes for the dense and softest crumb, A/P is next then bread flour has the chewiest. My family prefers the all purpose version, but the King Arthur A/P has as much protein as other brands’ bread flour so keep that in mind.

I was told that 00 is best for pizza so that’s next on my list to try.
