Show me the love

Hello, I am new in this post. My kid has decided to attend UMD College Park this fall.
For those who are attending the school, do you love it? As a parent, I want to make sure my D is happy. Thanks, and Congrats to those who got in!

Welcome new terpmom! Both of my daughters attend UMD…One is a senior, graduating in a couple of weeks, and the other is a sophomore. They both have really loved being at UMD…good choice for your D!

Thanks, so much! I am happy that she has chosen UMD. I personally liked the whole environment. I envisioned my child there, I knew she could be happy despite the size of the school! I guess I wanted to hear that most people, students and parents, love the school too!

Hi, I have two sons at UMCP. One is currently a freshman at UMCP and the other is a senior in high school and will be a freshman in the fall. We are very pleased with UMCP and would recommend it to anybody.

My d made her decision to attend umd just yesterday. I am ecstatic! I visited with her earlier this month, and I am so excited now I could do a happy dance!!! She will be living in Bel Air, CP Scholars - Arts program. My husband hasn’t had a chance to see the campus yet-now I just can’t wait for him to visit!
go Terps!

I’m a current freshman and I love it. The campus is beautiful, the people are nice, there’s always events going on, there’s a ton of school spirit, sports games are awesome, I’ve had some cool professors, and it’s just been overall a great experience!

You guys are so helpful! I felt the same way and I only had visited the school once, and that was during the admitted student day, last April 15th. The level of energy around was pretty contagious! I wanted to attend UMD myself! She is coming from a small town, so it will be some experience, but I feel she is ready (Maybe it’s me the one who’s not quite ready yet, haha!)
Is there any difference between orientation dates as far as registration goes? Do they save the same amount of places for classes regardless of which date they choose?
Thank you so much for all your reassuring support! Go Terps!!

The university does hold seats in classes for later orientation dates, and all students will leave their orientation with a full schedule, but the earlier in the summer you attend, the more flexibility there is with courses and timing.

Thank you Fresh42. QUick q: Any plans to revamp the CP surroundings, make it more applealing? I made it to route 1 which was OK, but I was just wondering if are there any talks to improve the “curb appeal”. I noticed that UMD has increased the patrol safety on the weekends, and I was told by a student that the purple line is coming, which will connect route 1 with CP, apparently this fall. She coulnd’t tell me much about the former question though. Thanks!

Connect Route 1 with CP?

How is it not connected?

Now I am really confused. I believe I was told that a new transportation line was to be available in the fall to increase security. I only visited once, so I am hoping to become more familiar, as I grow into a full Terpmom. Is any information about these news?

I would not be worried, Mom-ritaren. I will pm you. --KBImom
